Meet Our Team

Nazaly Miller, PT, PCS
Nazaly is a board certified pediatric clinical specialist who supervises pediatric therapy at Raleigh Neurology.  She received her B.S. in PT from Ithaca College and has over 20 years experience working with children. Nazaly has worked in two children’s hospitals and at several nonprofit agencies that service children in the community. Nazaly is Neurodevelopmental Treatment (NDT) certified and is experienced working with children that have neurological conditions such as cerebral palsy and spina bifida. She also has experience working with premature babies and has provided care for many children from the special care nursery until elementary school. A few have graduated high school. Nazaly has extensive experience with orthotic management, seating and mobility, and general durable medical equipment that enhances a child’s functioning at home, school, and in the community. Nazaly lives in Holly Springs with her husband and their two teenaged children.

Joan Hetter, PTA
Born in Pittsburgh, PA, Joan Hetter graduated from Mercyhurst College in Erie, PA from the Physical Therapist Assistant program in 1999.  Joan has practiced in a variety of settings including inpatient rehab, skilled nursing, long-term acute care, and orthopedics before coming to Raleigh Neurology in 2008.  Joan has lived in Wake Forest, NC for the past two years with her husband and their two children.

Chrisy Corrigan, PTA
Born in Ohio and raised in Greensboro, NC, Chrisy received a B.S. in Finance and a minor in Economics from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.  After working 10 years in the financial sect, Chrisy entered the Physical Therapist Assistant program at Guilford Technical Community College where she received an associate’s degree in 2001. Since then, Chrisy has worked in several settings such as pediatric out-patient/home health, adult home health and orthopedic out-patient. She has been employed with Raleigh Neurology since December 2005.

Robert Volstad, PT, MPT
Born in Temuco, Chile, Rob moved to New York at an early age and was raised in the village of Nyack. He received his B.S. Ed in Exercise and Sport Science from the University of Georgia and his master's degree in Physical Therapy from Neumann College in Aston, Pennsylvania. Rob worked in hospital and nursing home settings before coming to Raleigh Neurology in 2005. Rob has been an APTA credentialed clinical instructor since 2003, and he became certified as a vestibular therapist in 2006, specializing in patients with dizziness and vertigo, including migraine-related dizziness and post-concussive syndrome. Rob lives in Raleigh with his wife and three children, and he enjoys sports and physical activity of all kinds, playing soccer through college and now participating in half-marathons and triathlons.

Edith A. Ferris, AuD
Doctor of Audiology

Dr. Ferris holds the Clinical Certificate of Competency from the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA) and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology (AAA).  She received her master’s degree in Communication Disorders from the University of Texas at Dallas and her Doctorate in Audiology from Salus University.  Practicing as an audiologist since 2000, Edith specializes in Vestibular Disorders and has a strong interest in Tinnitus treatment.  She offers comprehensive hearing evaluations, Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR) testing, Videonystagmography (VNG), Vestibular Evoked Myogenic Potentials (VEMP) and Computerized Dynamic Posturography (CDP). Edie lives with her dog in Holly Springs.

Shikha Sharma, BPT, COMT
Shikha graduated from Rajive Gandhi University in India with a Bachelors of Physical Therapy in 2003.  While in India, she worked in a variety of areas including acute rehab and out-patient settings.  After Shikha moved to the United States, she worked in a skilled nursing facility and an orthopedic clinic before joining Raleigh Neurology in 2007.  Shikha’s areas of interests include using Maitland’s manual therapy techniques to treat a variety of orthopedic conditions including: spinal dysfunctions and derangements, extremity pathologies, TMJ dysfunction, and sacroiliac joint pain.  Shikha focuses on manual therapy along with an emphasis on exercise to encourage active patient involvement.

  Erica Byrne Gaskins, PT, DPT
Erica earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, after earning her Bachelor of Science degree in Health & Exercise Science from Wake Forest University. Erica currently provides physical therapy evaluation and treatment at both the Raleigh and Durham locations of RNA. Working closely with the Eastern North Carolina Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, she works to help improve physical therapy treatment and access for people living with MS. Erica has a special interest in helping individuals with neurological dysfunction gain strength, mobility, independence, and healthy lifestyles.

  Caitlin Espy, PT, DPT
Caitlin grew up in Moon Township, Pennsylvania and graduated from Saint Francis University in Loretto Pennsylvania in 2011 with her Doctorate in Physical Therapy. Caitlin has always had an interest in pediatrics. She has had experience working with children with neurological impairments during her clinical affiliations in a school setting and in outpatient settings. In addition, Caitlin has had clinical experiences in acute care, outpatient, and sports medicine. During her graduate program, she performed research entitled Western Pennsylvania Pediatricians’ Confidence in Knowledge versus Assessed Knowledge Regarding Motor Development. Caitlin enjoys sports, running, and spending time outside.

  Melissa Mahon, PT, DPT
Melissa is a Doctor of Physical Therapy and a University of North Carolina Multiple Sclerosis Scholar, class of 2010. Melissa enjoys all areas of neurological rehabilitation and has experience working with patients with gait and mobility limitations, balance deficits and functional impairments. As an UNC MS Scholar, Melissa has developed a close relationship with the Eastern Chapter of the North Carolina Multiple Sclerosis Society. On the Society’s behalf, Melissa has been asked to present multiple teleconferences and presentations on the significant benefits of physical therapy, health and wellness. Melissa is licensed physical therapist, a North Carolina native, a former professional ballerina and a Pilates instructor.

Keith Sales, PT, DPT

Born in New York and raised in Raleigh, Keith received his B.S. in Exercise and Sports Science from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He then went on to receive his Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2011 from East Carolina University. Keith lives in Raleigh with his wife. He enjoys spending time with family and friends. In addition, he and his wife enjoy anything related to Hurricanes hockey!

Jessica Yeganian M.A., CCC-SLP
Jessica Yeganian graduated from University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a Master’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology. She has extensive experience working with a variety of neurological and developmental disorders. Jessica specializes in the evaluation and treatment of speech, language, voice and fluency disorders with particular specialties in the areas of pediatric and adult swallowing disorders, apraxia of speech, autism, and augmentative communication disorders. Jessica’s additional certifications include Lee Silverman Voice Therapy, Flexible Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing and Nueromuscular Electrical Stimulation for swallowing. She is a board member of the North Carolina Augmentative Communication Association and has extensive experience in evaluation and implementation of augmentative communication systems for all ages.

Kristi Phillips M.S., CCC-SLP
Kristi Phillips graduated from UNC Chapel Hill with a B.S. in Speech Communications and received a master’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from East Carolina University in 1996. She works with children and adults with a variety of neurological and developmental disorders including autism, seizure disorder, traumatic brain injury, stroke, cerebral palsy, and Parkinson Disease. Kristi specializes in evaluation and treatment of a variety of pediatric communication impairments including articulation disorders, receptive and expressive language disorders, and apraxia of speech. She also specializes in the implementation of augmentative communication. Kristi provides speech therapy for adults and specializes in the evaluation and treatment of motor speech impairments, aphasia, dysphagia, and voice impairments. She is certified in Lee Silverman Voice Treatment and VitalStim Therapy. Kristi lives in Raleigh with her husband and three children.

Karen Buckmiller MS, OTR/L
Karen received her Bachelor of Science in Health and Exercise Science from Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina. She then obtained her Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri. Karen has been practicing 10 years as a pediatric occupational therapist in a variety of settings including children’s hospitals (NICU, PICU, and bone marrow transplant unit), the home, clinics, and aquatic therapy. Her experience includes working with children with Autism and Autism spectrum disorders, cerebral palsy, traumatic brain injury and stroke, spinal cord injury, congenital cardiac defects, trisomy 21, developmental delays, failure to thrive, myelomeningocele, rheumatologic diseases, developmental delays, rare genetic disorders, orthopedic concerns, and feeding disorders. She was a key member in the planning and development of an adapted playground for children with special needs in Durham, NC.  Karen has received special training in feeding, splinting, Handwriting Without Tears, as well as numerous courses on fine motor, visual motor, NDT and sensory integration. Karen is NOMAS (Neonatal Oral-Motor Assessment Scale) certified. She is also certified by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) and holds state licensure in North Carolina.  Past work history includes Children’s Specialized Hospital in Toms River, NJ, Raleigh DEC and Duke Children’s Hospital.

Jessie R. Gentz, COTA/L

Jessie R. Gentz, COTA/L, graduated from Kennebec Valley Community College in Fairfield, ME in 2009 with an Associate’s Degree in Occupational Therapy. She continued on with school and earned her Bachelor’s of Applied Science with a Minor in Business in 2010 from University of Maine at Augusta.  Jessie quickly obtained a job in pediatrics after graduation in a private practice in Maine serving children with special needs. The clinic offered some non-traditional therapy such as primary reflex work using Masgutova Method ®, Rhythmic Movement Training ®, Brain Gym ®, and Bal-a-vis-x ® to name a few! Jessie has worked with many children aged from one to twenty-one. Her experience includes working with children with Sensory Processing Disorders, fine motor delays, Autism and Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADD, ADHD, Behavioral Disorders, ODD, Eating Disorders, TBI, Language Disorders, FAS, Cerebral Palsy, Learning Disorders, PTSD, Visual Motor/Perception, Anxiety, Developmental Delays, and Developmental Delays. Jessie has received special training in Handwriting Without Tears, as well as numerous courses on fine motor, visual motor, and sensory integration. She is certified by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) and holds state licensure in North Carolina. Her ultimate goal in life is to have a therapeutic horseback riding facility.
