RNA is one of the few private practices that initiates its own research studies.  In studies of this kind, the doctor and staff develop an idea for research, and the project is carried out from conception to data analysis within the practice with minimal input from the pharmaceutical company.  Investigator-Initiated Studies (IIS) are unique because they are developed by RNA’s doctors and staff based upon experience with our patients.  Through these efforts, RNA is able to make an indelible mark upon the research community, and provide our patients with cutting-edge medications and treatments.

We have an experienced staff of six clinical research coordinators led by Research Manager, Keisha Fuller, RN, BSN, who oversees all details necessary for participation in these research projects.  Our research coordinators include Tippi Hales, RN, Beth Jackson, LPN, Kimberly James, Regulatory Specialist, Marisol Ragland, Data Entry Specialist, Penni Bye, RN, and Tonisha Brown, RN.  The research coordinators review the details of any study on an individual basis with patients and/or family members.  They will explain the intent of the study, the inclusion and exclusion criteria for participation, the potential hazards and side effects of the medication(s) being studied, and the financial and/or time commitment requirements of the study.  They will then review the details of the informed consent with patients and with family members.

The research department is made up of a team of extremely friendly women who care very much for the patients they work with.  They make themselves easily accessible to clinical trial participants, and strive to keep these patients comfortable and well-informed throughout the entire trial process.

A quote from an interview with Research Manager, Keisha Fuller, RN and Data Entry Specialist, Marisol Ragland:

"We love helping the patients.  It’s great to see happy and healthier patients.  We enjoy making a difference in peoples’ lives, and also being there to comfort them and answer any questions they may have.  It’s rewarding to be part of these important Clinical Trials."
