Two RNA Physical Therapists Become Certified MS Specialists
Congratulations to our very own Erica Byrne Gaskins, DPT and Melissa Mahon, DPT for passing the MS Certified Specialists exam last month! This exam was developed by the Consortium of Multiple Sclerosis Centers.This certification is designed to reflect knowledge in the specialization of MS Care. Before taking this exam, health care providers must demonstrate experience caring for multiple sclerosis patients and at least 20% of professional time spent with MS patients and/or families. Melissa and Erica are the first graduates of the MS curriculum program in the doctoral physical therapy program at UNC – Chapel Hill. Melissa and Erica have been heavily involved with the Eastern North Carolina Chapter as volunteers, serving on the chapter’s Physical Therapy Volunteer Leadership Team, which Erica chairs.
